YOUR SITUATION SHOULDN’T BE YOUR LIMITATION
Afua Krobea Asante, the CEO of Azmera Restaurant was the Speaker for WomanRising #WRclique February edition. Her presence on the round-table made a lot of impact on the women entrepreneurs who participated in the event on the 11th of February 2017 at Premium Bank, 2nd floor of the Ghana Shippers House Accra.
Afua Krobea Asante, the woman with super-creative and innovative abilities had a very unfortunate beginning yet she controls a great business empire like Azmera and is always working harder to improve the global standard she has set for her business.
Take a look at what she had to say about being successful.
DO IT BECAUSE YOU LOVE IT
” Success is all about knowing what you love and doing it to the best of your ability. It’s like feeding a child with a kind of meal she dislikes or isn’t used to, there is a likelihood that she will throw it up. This is what happens when you don’t boldly take up the job you love. You will work for the money but within your honest self, you will never know what satisfaction feels like. This is why you also will not care whether or not the business does well”.
I HAVE SUCCEEDED BECAUSE OF MY PASSION FOR MY BUSINESS
“The Azmera story started seven years ago, on a coffee table placed at the front gate of my house. I tore one of my cover clothes into two and used one-half as a table cloth to cover my coffee table on which I sold tea (as usually described in Ghana), bread and egg to patients who visited the Nyaho Clinic situated in Airport Residential Area. I couldn’t afford a whole tin of milo so I used to buy the ones tied in a rubber which is mostly sold in the local stores and then poured them out into a tin to make it appear as a whole tin milo.
I did this for some time until I was able to build a hut under which I managed my sales. I was discouraged by so many people and situations. My husband at a time pushed my items into the gutter saying I was being a disgrace to him for doing what I was doing. But I never gave up because I had a picture in mind that no other person could see and I knew certainly that to able to paint this picture from my memory into reality, I had to be stronger and more passionate about what I wanted to achieve”
BE A SERVANT RATHER THAN THE BOSS
I have had to serve at Azmera to achieve what I have achieved today. I could have easily sat down and ordered people around to take care of my business, but the truth is, no one cares about what is yours more than yourself. I don’t sit and fold my arms because I’m the boss. I get to my restaurant before anyone, I prepare all the dishes in my restaurant myself, I start cleaning even before my workers come in and I’m always on my toes serving customers and doing other things myself.
I love my job and so I invest into it all that I possibly can. I believe this has been a major contributor to my success as the CEO of Azmera.
