Her Profile:
Ms. Quartey is currently the Principal and Member of the Governing Council of National Banking College, appointed on the 1st of October 2021. As a professional, she comes into her role with over twenty-one (21) years of experience in training and professional development, risk management, policy development and implementation, change management, and strategic planning.
Ms. Quartey joined the Bank of Ghana in 2008 as an Assistant Director and worked in various capacities including Head of the Human Resource Department, Head of the General Services Department, and Head of the Centre for Training and Professional Development.
She was also the Director of the Risk Management Department. Whilst at the Risk Management Department, she successfully led the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Bank’s current Five (5) year Strategic Plan named STAR 2022. During her tenure of office as Director of the Risk Management Department, the Bank of Ghana has adjudged the Risk Manager of the Year 2017 by the Central Banking Publications (CBP), UK in recognition of the strong risk management culture that it built into its business operations and protecting itself from emerging threats.
She returned to the Human Resource Department where she led the team to win several awards. Amongst them are;
Ms. Quartey was also a member of the Project Team that prepared the Bank of Ghana for ISO 27001 certification which saw the Bank becoming the first central bank in Africa to be so certified. By her exemplary leadership and exceptional performance coupled with her vast experience gained over the years, she was appointed as Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Ghana on September 1, 2021.
Prior to joining the Bank of Ghana, Ms. Quartey worked with the then Standard Trust Bank Ghana Limited as the Head of the Human Capital Management (HCM) Department and was a key member of the HCM Integration team during the merger between United Bank for Africa PLC and the Standard Trust Bank PLC.
She also worked with KPMG as Human Resource Manager for Ghana with oversight for Sierra Leone and Gambia and Ernst & Young Ghana as a Staff Administrator.
Ms. Quartey obtained her first degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Ghana, followed by a master’s degree in International Relations at the University of Ghana. She was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration Degree in Banking and Finance by London Graduate School/ Commonwealth University.
